Butler Police6:07 p.m. Monday — Austin G. Harmon, 20, of Butler was arrested after he was caught with bags of suspected heroin in the downtown area.A patrol officer came upon Harmon after hearing two men arguing near South Main and Diamond streets. The pair continued to argue while running across Main Street.The officer got out of his cruiser to investigate and subsequently stopped Harmon. A pat down search turned up a crack pipe in one of the man’s pockets, according to court documents.Additionally, the officer noticed in another pocket a cigarette pack, its lid open, with what appeared to be 10 stamp bags of heroin inside.Police searched Harmon’s back pack, documents said, and found even more drugs and contraband, including three Xanax pills that were in a plastic bag and a syringe.The defendant was arraigned on two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail following arraignment.3:33 p.m. Monday — An unidentified sport utility vehicle traveling west on East Brady Street struck the passenger side mirror of a car driven by Mia Gorney, 24, of Butler Township. The unknown driver stopped briefly after the accident but drove away westbound, traveling through a stop sign at Franklin Street.Gorney described the SUV as a tan Honda model. Police searched the area but could not find the suspect vehicle.2:08 p.m. Sunday — A Northampton County woman was arrested for drunken and drugged driving after she crashed her car into a utility pole along Morton Avenue near Freemont Avenue. The wreck sheared off the pole.Police found the pole on the ground and followed a trail of leaking vehicle fluid down the hill to the suspect’s car. Shelly D. Berndt, 28, of Easton was in the driver’s seat.The out-of-towner told police that she was traveling down Morton Avenue and was viewing her GPS device when she became confused about the directions, according to court documents. She had taken her eyes off the road when she lost control of the car.But police said she appeared impaired. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports are pending.Berndt was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and careless driving. She was released on $5,000 unsecured bail following arraignment.Noon Friday — A car driven by Morgan T. Dulacy, 20, of Pittsburgh rear-ended another car on Route 8 south near Butler Tire. Dale Gibson, 88, of Prospect was the other driver.

State Police, ButlerMonday — John E. Hardisty, 43, of Butler was charged with trying to illegally buy a firearm at a Butler Township store in March.Police said Hardisty allegedly provided false information on a federal form that was required March 19 when he attempted to buy a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol at Dicks Sporting Goods at the Greenwood Plaza.When his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, he was denied the purchase.Hardisty is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.Monday — Police charged the last of three teenagers accused of shooting BB guns at vehicles and homes during a July vandalism spree in Summit and Oakland townships.Charged with seven misdemeanor counts each of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct are Jake C. Minton, 19, of Clearfield Township; Leon D. Summers, 18, of Butler Township; and Jacob R. Trinkley, 19, of Butler.Police charged the men between Aug. 24 and Monday.According to court documents, the defendants drove in a vehicle together between July 29 and 31 and used different BB guns to shoot out windows of several homes and two vehicles.All three suspects admitted wrongdoing, police said.Thursday — Donna A. Digiacomo, 27, of Butler and her boyfriend, Jarrod N. Warner, 36, of Washington Township, were both charged in connection with a July shoplifting incident at the Clearview Mall in Center Township.Digiacomo was caught swiping merchandise valued at $390 at the J.C. Penney store. Warner was caught taking $223 worth of items at the same store, according to court documents.Both defendants are charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct.

State Police, Mercer2:38 a.m. Saturday — Celeste D. Yeager, 25, of Grove City lost control of her car and struck a tree along George Junior Road in Pine Township, Mercer County. Yeager told police the accident happened when she swerved to avoid a deer on the road.

Butler Township PoliceMonday — An unknown thief stole a wallet after breaking into a pickup truck parked in a wooded area near Kennedy’s Mill on Frew Mill Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The suspect smashed out the front passenger side window to get into the truck between 3:30 and 4:45 p.m.The wallet, owned by a 21-year-old man from Churchville, N.Y., contained about $190 in currency, credit cards, and the victim’s driver’s license. The pickup is owned by a 55-year-old Churchville man.1:07 a.m. Friday — A suspected drunken driver was hurt in a one-vehicle wreck in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Ethan M. McClimans, 25, of New Castle was treated at Jameson Hospital near New Castle for unknown injuries.Police said McClimans lost control of his pickup on Rose Point Harlansburg Road just south of County Line Road and traveled up a small embankment. The truck hit a tree and rolled onto its roof.McClimans, who was not wearing a seat belt, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Police said he also faces several unspecified traffic violations.
