Zelienople Police2:30 p.m. Monday — Jessica Young, 25, was arrested after she allegedly stole opioid pain medication that was at her family home on Fieldstone Place.Young is accused of taking six oxycodone pills belonging to another woman who had recently been staying at the home with the defendant and her parents.According to court documents, Young denied stealing the prescription painkillers. The suspects’ parents, after discovering the alleged theft, took their daughter to the police station and advised authorities they wanted to process charges.Police interviewed the parents, the owner of the pills and the defendant. They subsequently arrested Young.She was arraigned on six counts each of theft, receiving stolen property and illegal possession of prescription medication. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.

Grove City Police12:30 p.m. Wednesday — Cynthia A. Barnes, 60, of Grove City was arrested at a business on the 100 block of North Broad Street where she had previously been barred. Barnes was arraigned on a charge of defiant trespass and released on $15,000 unsecured bail.Tuesday — A set of keys was found on College Avenue and were turned in to police. The owner can claim the keys at the police station, 337 E. Pine St.9:59 p.m. Monday — Carl A. Shipton, 42, of Grove City was caught allegedly swiping flower pots from two different homes in the borough. He is charged with two counts of theft.

State Police, ButlerThursday — Police reported that an employee is suspected of pilfering $16,000 from the Beer Garden on Route 38 in Washington Township. The suspect, a 21-year-old woman, is believed to have altered receipts and removed currency between 2014 and Feb. 13.No charges have been filed yet and the suspect has not been identified pending completion of the investigation.10:30 p.m. Wednesday — An Allegheny County teenager was caught with suspected marijuana and other contraband following a traffic stop on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Drug possession charges are pending against the suspect, an 18-year-old Wall man who police did not identify.7:43 p.m. Wednesday — A 55-year-old Chicora man allegedly punched out a car window in a case of apparent road rage on Route 68 at Route 422 east in Summit Township. A police report did not identify the suspect or the victim, a 54-year-old Butler man. A charge of criminal mischief is pending against the suspect.Wednesday — Police charged Curtis J. Kelley, 29, of Ellwood City with illegally trying to buy a gun in January. Kelley allegedly lied on his application to buy the firearm Jan. 5 at the Rural King store, Clearview Mall in Center Township.When his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, he was denied the purchase.Kelley is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and making a false statement a misdemeanor.Wednesday — Mackenzie L. Brightshue, 20, of New Castle was charged with the July 30 theft of a 19-year-old man’s Apple iPhone and $455 from the victim’s home on Willow Road in Fairview Township. Brightshue is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.4:44 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Alexandra J. McMurray, 17, of Boyers struck a sport utility vehicle on Route 8 while turning onto Boyers Road in Mercer Township. Police said Murray was cited for making an improper left turn. Scott A. Hayes, 45, of Harrisville was the other driver.

State Police, Kittanning7:05 a.m. Thursday — One person was hurt when a school van with six students aboard was rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle in Manor Township. The van driver, Sharon Minnich, 48, of Ford City was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township with moderate injuries.The crash happened on Route 422 just south of Edgewood Road. Police said the SUV driver, James Johns Jr., 37, of Ford City, was cited for following too closely to another vehicle and driving with a suspended license.
