Car show planned for SundayPROSPECT — The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department will host a car show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday on Main Street.The event will have music by Judy’s Jukebox, 50/50 raffles, basket auctions and door prizes.

One-room school alums reuniteCRANBERRY TWP — The reunion of the six one-room schools of Cranberry Township will be Sept. 10 at the Plains Presbyterian Church off Rowan Road on Plains Church Road.Activities will begin at 1 p.m. and a buffet supper will be at 4 p.m. Take a dish to share.Students and families are welcome. Firefighters host community dayHERMAN — Herman Volunteer Fire Company, 789 Herman Road, will have a community day from 4 p.m. until dark Sept. 10.Activities and food will be free for the community. Tractor pulls for children ages 3 to 8 will be at 5 p.m., a magician will perform at 7 p.m. and fireworks will close the day.The celebration will include a bounce slide, obstacle course, high fly bungee, kids squirt house, wood carver, drug education booth and fire safety education house. There will be a search and rescue dog demonstration, a helicopter landing and tours and construction and emergency vehicles.

Bulbs, tubers topic of talkSAXONBURG — The South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St., will have a Master Gardener “Bulbs, Tubers and Rhizomes” presentation at 6 p.m. Sept. 11.Master Gardener Karen Beachem will explain the differences between true bulbs and many other “not bulbs.”

Child Check dates scheduledThe Lifesteps’ Child Check team will offer free screenings in September for children from birth to age 5:9 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12, Butler YMCA, 339 N. Washington St.9 a.m. to noon Sept. 26, Lifesteps Butler County Program Center, 383 New Castle Road.A Child Check takes about 30 minutes. The results are discussed immediately with the parents. The screening evaluates the child’s development in playing, talking, seeing, hearing, moving and thinking.Appointments are recommended. Lighthouse offers computer classesMIDDLESEX TWP — The Lighthouse Foundation, 1302 E.
