Sweet, Killian key Mars golf victory

Adam Sweet and Cody Killian both shot 39 as Mars' boys golf team defeated Highlands 201-261 Monday at Rittswood Golf Course.

Chris Sicher added a 40 for the Planets (1-1).

Freeport 224, St. Joseph's 237 — Denny Wuyscik's 40 paced the Yellowjackets (1-1, 1-0) at Brackenridge Heights Golf Course.

Seneca Valley's Scott Hangliter carded an even-par 72 to lead the Raiders to second place out of five teams at a tournament at Cedarbrook Golf Course.

The Raiders finished with 380 strokes, 10 behind first-place Peters Township.

Grove City's Troy Loughry shot a 79 as the Eagles finished third out of five teams at a District 10, Region 3 match at The Country Club in Meadville.

GC tallied 345 strokes. Meadville's 327 topped the field.

The Rockets, who were led by Kyle Stephenson's 95, totaled 439 strokes. Rocky Grove won the event with a 346.

Girls Golf

Maggie Feczko's 41 helped lift Butler to a 183-226 victory over Shaler.
