Orchard 50th anniversary
James “Jim” and Maureen Orchard of Mars will celebrate 50 years of marriage.
Orchard married the former Maureen Caren Craig on Aug. 27, 1966, at Brentwood Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh.
They have two children, Karen (Jason) Lent of Butler and Kimberly (Eddy) Cardentey of Mars.
They also have six grandchildren.
Orchard retired as vice president of Miller Electric Construction Inc.
He served overseas in the U.S. Army.
He is a member of IBEW Local 5 and the National Electric Contractors Association. He is the former president of Mars AFS and hosted six exchange students.
Mrs. Orchard retired as legislative assistant for Daryl Metcalfe and was an assistant buyer at Joseph Horne Co. and Kaufmann’s.
She formed Mars Area Drug and Alcohol, won Best Chemical People Task Force in Western Pennsylvania, was chairman for the Drug and Alcohol Commissioners Council, chairman for Child and Youth and served as a Mars School Board director for nine years.
She is a past president of North Suburban Fine Arts League and a past president of the Little Music Society.
The Orchards are members of Mars Alliance Church.
