Jackson eatery, stores get OK

Jackson Pointe project slated

JACKSON TWP — A retail development planned along Route 19 at Jackson’s Pointe got final approval Thursday evening from township supervisors.

The 12,000-square-foot building, which will have a restaurant and retail stores, will be on the corner of Route 19 and Jackson’s Pointe Road just south of the Speedway convenience store.

“We’re excited,” said supervisors Chairman Trent Geis. “Hopefully there will be a restaurant because that’s what people here are looking for.”

Brian Goetz, The Buncher Co. vice president, said there are plans already to add on to the building.

“We’ll be adding onto this in due course,” Goetz said.

The concrete building is planned to have 2,000 square feet for a restaurant and 10,000 square feet for retail space. About six stores can fit into the building, although tenants that require more space could reduce that number.

The building will have 91 parking spaces and two entrances. A right-in-only entrance will be on Route 19 while a full service entrance for delivery vehicles and regular traffic will be in the rear.

Minor landscaping, including trees and perimeter lighting, is planned. A sidewalk for pedestrian traffic will be connected from the building to Jackson’s Pointe Road.

Supervisor Ron Lutz said the arrival of retail development is a result of the township’s recent housing developments.

“Retail reacts to residents,” Lutz said. “The more houses that move in, retail will follow.”

Officials did not say when work will begin on the site.
