Butler Police9 p.m. Thursday — Gilbert Brumfield, 20, of Butler Township was hurt when an unidentified vehicle hit him as he walked along Roosevelt Boulevard near Pepperland Boulevard.Brumfield told police that he was walking south on the side of the road when a vehicle drove up behind him and hit him on his left foot and ankle. The unknown driver stopped momentarily but then left.Brumfield, who suffered a minor injury, described the vehicle as a gray, small sport utility vehicle or a crossover-type model.

Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Justin S. Sarratt, 23, of Reynolds, Ohio, was arrested after police were called for a disturbance at the Days Inn on Route 8 south. A clerk told police that Sarratt had been told to leave the hotel and not return.He left but returned about 15 minutes later when officers were still there.Sarratt was arraigned on charges of trespass, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.

Grove City PoliceTuesday — A thief stole a small amount of money and financial papers from the glove box of an unlocked vehicle in the 400 block of West Main Street. The theft happened between 6 p.m. Monday and 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.2:56 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Ryan J. Peck, 18, of Mercer rear-ended a sport utility vehicle on West Main Street at Stewart Avenue. Peck faces a ticket for careless driving. Carolyn L. Smith, 69, of Jamestown was the other driver.Aug. 10 — A 32-foot aluminum extension ladder was stolen from a home in the 300 block of West Main Street. The ladder was taken between 5 p.m. Aug. 9 to 2 p.m. Aug. 10. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

Middlesex Twp PoliceMonday — Police charged Matthew W. Block, 27, of New Castle in a hit-and-run crash about 2 p.m. Aug. 10 at Route 8 and Route 228 east.Block is accused of sideswiping a car while driving a rental box truck. The truck struck the car's driver side, causing minor to moderate damage. Neither occupant in the car was injured.The suspect did not stop but the two victims and two other witnesses provided police with a good description of the truck. Buffalo Township police just 30 minutes later stopped Block in the truck, which had minor scratches in the accident.Block is charged with hit-and-run, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, and disregarding traffic lanes.3 p.m. Saturday — Ronald L. Cotherman, 49, of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, allegedly made off with a portable telephone belonging to the Golden Apple Farm & Market on Route 8.Police said Cotherman drove up to the store and went inside, telling an employee that someone was chasing him and he needed to borrow a phone to call 911.The employee gave him a phone, which the suspect took out of the store. He is accused of driving away with the cordless phone, valued at $80.But before Cotherman took off in his car, the employee got his license plate number.A short time later, Cranberry Township police found the car and the suspect at the Streets at Cranberry shopping plaza on Route 19. The phone was recovered.Cotherman is charged with a misdemeanor count of theft.

State Police, Kittanning2:15 p.m. Sunday — No one was hurt but both vehicles had to be towed after a two-car crash on Parkview Drive in East Franklin Township. A police report did not identify the drivers, a 60-year-old Manorville woman and a 65-year-old Kittanning woman.

State Police, MercerThursday — Police charged Lynne Ann Parenti, 60, of Harrisville with kicking a nurse in the arm at the Grove City Medical Center in Pine Township. Parenti at the time was receiving medical treatment. The nurse was apparently uninjured.Parenti is charged with reckless endangerment and harassment.Thursday — Mark W. Watterson II, 19, of Chicora was charged with shoplifting merchandise July 29 and Aug. 7 at the Walmart in Pine Township on West Main Street Extension.Watterson, who is accused of taking $199 worth of cosmetics, is charged with retail theft.
