Butler wins again

Late runs lift BlueSox past Champion City

After letting an early lead slip away, Butler used a 3-run seventh inning to break a 5-all tie and went on to defeat host Champion City 8-6 in Prospect League baseball action Friday night.

The decisive seventh frame featured a two-run single from Will Schneider and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dillon Sunnafrank that produced another run.

BlueSox reliever Jamie Switalski was the winning pitcher despite allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Starter Kason Kimbrell received a no-decision after working 4 1/3 innings and being charged with three runs (two earned). Jack Herzing pitched 2/3 scoreless innings in the eighth and Kyle Zurak earned his seventh save by getting the final four outs.

James Meeker was 3-for-4 at the plate and is now batting a robust .389.

The Sox (13-15) close the season with a doubleheader Saturday at Kelly Automotive Park against Champion City (16-12). The first game will begin at 5:05 p.m.

Champion City, West Virginia (16-13) and Kokomo (15-14) are all still alive for the second-half title in the East Division.
