BUFFALO TWP — The longtime manager of the Municipal Authority of Buffalo Township died Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Township Supervisor John Haven, board chairman, said Don Amadee’s death from an apparent heart attack leaves big shoes to fill at the authority, which provides water and sanitary service.

“He was probably the heart of the municipal authority,” Haven said.

Amadee worked for the authority, which provides water service for more than 5,000 customers in Buffalo and Freeport, for more than 20 years.

The authority also provides sewage service to nearly 4,700 Buffalo residences and supplies the water for the South Buffalo Township Municipal Authority.

Haven said Amadee, who was 50, was extremely knowledgeable about water and sewage issues.

“He was just a wealth of information,” he said.

Haven, who also serves as the authority vice chairperson, praised Amadee for his efforts on behalf of the authority.

“For us, he was fantastic,” Haven said.

He cited Amadee’s thoroughness in presenting all options to the board for any pending decision.

Haven also lauded Amadee for being extremely cooperative with the township.

He said Amadee’s death also is a personal loss.

“I loved the guy like a brother,” Haven said.

He said the authority board would discuss filling the manager post at the Aug. 18 meeting.

His obituary is on Page 9.
