Art Center has ‘Panel Jam’The Butler Art Center will host a “Panel Jam” from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday. Admission is free.Walldog artists who are in town to paint murals will be painting panels at The Art Center that will then be auctioned at the Tanglewood Center on Saturday.Tickets for the dinner and auction at Tanglewood are $15.The Art Center is at 344 S. Carnival continuesSAXONBURG — The 85th Saxonburg Firemen’s Carnival runs through Saturday with rides, raffles, pageants and food. Gates open at 6 p.m.Highlights include the Fireman’s Parade, 6 p.m. today, the Junior Miss Saxonburg pageant at 7 p.m. Friday, and the Miss Saxonburg pageant at 7 p.m. Saturday.Matinee for kids will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday.Regular admission is $2 per person. Admission free at MeadowcroftAVELLA, Washington County — Visitors to Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village will be admitted free Saturday and Sunday, courtesy of the Jack Buncher Foundation.The rockshelter is a massive rock overhang used by some of the region’s earliest inhabitants for shelter more than 16,000 years ago.Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Airport hosts ‘Wings’ tourPENN TWP — The Wings of Freedom Tour of the WWII Vintage Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Consolidated B-24 Liberator, B-25 Mitchell and North American P-51 Mustang will be on display Aug. 15 to 17 at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport, 473 Airport Road.In honor of WWII veterans, the Collings Foundation’s presents the aircraft for a living history display as part of 110-city tour.Visitors can explore the aircraft inside and out.Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 16, and 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 17. Perseid parties scheduledFRAZER TWP, Allegheny County — The Perseid meteor shower will be on display for star parties planned Aug. 12 and 13 by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh.The evening will begin about 8:20 p.m., weather permitting, at the Nicholas E.
