SRU recognized as a Green Ribbon School

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Green Ribbon School for its efforts to reduce environmental impacts, promote better health and ensure effective environmental education.

The university is one of 11 colleges around the country to receive the award.

“Slippery Rock is an outstanding example of best practices in creating a healthy, sustainable environment for students, employees and everyone who comes onto the campus,” said Frank Brogan, chancellor of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education. “The students, faculty, staff and administration are to be congratulated.”

The award is the latest in a string of similar recognitions for SRU.

It also was included in the Princeton Review's Guide to 332 Green Colleges, was listed in Healthiest Employers Inc's Top 100 Healthiest Workplaces in America, and included in the Sierra Club's Cool Schools list.
