Butler adding 4 to HOF

Jula, Buczko, Butler, Schnur to join BHS Hall

BUTLER TWP — The 2016 inductees into the Butler Area School District Athletic Hall of Fame have been announced.

The date of the induction ceremony itself remains unknown.

“We're looking to have a winter induction this time,” HOF chairman Brian Slameca said. “But those details are still up in the air.

“We may do it at one home basketball game, possibly two.”

This marks the seventh induction class for the Hall of Fame, which featured an inaugural class of 12 in 2010. The previous six induction ceremonies took place before an early-season home football game.

The 2016 inductees are former boys basketball coach Mark Jula, track and field standouts Katie Butler Hinrichsen and Melanie Buczko Lincoln, and baseball pitcher Des Schnur. This year will mark the smallest induction class in the Hall's history.

Jula remains active as a high school basketball coach and is now at Ambridge. The Bridgers are scheduled to come to Butler early in the 2016-17 season.

“It'd be nice to honor and induct Coach Jula prior to that game,” Slamecka said. “That's one of the possibilities we're looking at.”

Here is a look at the 2016 school district Athletic Hall of Fame inductees:
