Howard L. Clark

Howard L. Clark

Howard L. Clark, 63, of Butler passed away peacefully with grace and dignity Tuesday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.

Born Feb. 20, 1953, in Butler, he was a son of the late John R. Clark and Ruth J. (Sankey) Clark.

Howard graduated from Butler High School in 1972 and worked for ARC of Butler County for 36 years, until a well-deserved retirement. He was very well respected for being a dedicated, compassionate and caring advocate for all that he cared for.

He played baseball in his youth from midget to Pony League and was always on the all-star teams as their catcher. Also, he coached Little League baseball for six years. During his high school years he excelled in football, playing defensive end, lettering most of those years and winning numerous awards, including the Jim McDowell award for defensive player of the year in 1971.

He enjoyed golfing, one time hitting a hole-in-one, playing boccie bowl, going to the beach on family vacations, going to camp and playing cards. He also did duck pin bowling for many years. He belonged to the Italian Club, French & Belgium Club, and the Elks Club, where he volunteered at Wednesday morning bingo. His favorite passion was to be with his family, especially his grandson, Elliott, with whom he had a special bond. Elliott will greatly miss his papa.

One thing he will be remembered for is his unending gift of friendship. He was the most loyal dedicated friend to everyone he loved. He had a unique sense of humor and lived life to the fullest.

His family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the ICU at the Butler Memorial Hospital for their gracious and loving care.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Deborah (Monnie) Clark; one daughter, Joanna (Raymond Webb) Clark; one son, Joshua Bossinger; one grandson, Elliott; his sisters and brothers, Cheryl Fijolek, Marcy (Jim) Schiebel, Dick (Linda) Clark, Pam (Don) McLaughlin and Ken Clark; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Karen (Coy) Mayfield, Denise (Scott) McCormick, Donna (Joe) Cranmer and Doug (Carol) Monnie; and numerous nieces and nephews who will agree that he was the best “Uncle Howdy.”
