Bad business

After reading the June 15 story “Dispute could delay Dollar General,” I was struck by what I see as a growing problem not just in Slippery Rock, but in small town America as a whole.

Increasingly common sense, courtesy and basic human respect are taking a back seat to corporate interests, tax revenue and the bottom lines of absentee profiteers. Dollar General saying that they aren’t a grocery store is like Walmart saying that they don’t sell clothes.

I find it a disheartening reality that a company which reaps so many rewards from the hardworking people of Western Pennsylvania is unwilling to allow a local family access to their own property.

Dollar General could solve this problem with an eraser. Sadly, it will take more than an eraser to solve the deeper issue of inequity facing us all.
