Butler County Detectives9:50 a.m. Tuesday — Adam C. Bonifate, 40, of Allison Park, Allegheny County, was caught trying to cheat on a drug test at the Butler County Probation Office.Bonifate’s probation officer found him with an unspecified device, which contained clean urine, according to court documents. He also was found with a Suboxone strip in his wallet for which he did not have a prescription.The suspect is charged with attempting to furnish drug-free urine and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Butler County SheriffTuesday — Robert B. Charles, 38, of Mars was charged with providing false information on a background check form while attempting to obtain a permit to carry a handgun. Charles on June 20 provided answers about his criminal record on the concealed carry application that were not truthful, according to court documents, and were rejected by the Pennsylvania Instant Check System that is run by the state police. He is charged with unsworn falsification to authorities.

State Police, Butler2:21 p.m. Sunday — Stush Antoszyk, 26, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Main Street in Prospect. Police said Antoszyk also was found with suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.A police certified drug recognition expert evaluated the suspect’s condition before he was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Charges are pending lab results.Saturday — An unknown burglar broke into E&E Butler Properties Mini Storage on Castleridge Road in Franklin Township and used a blunt object to damage several garage doors.The suspect also broke the locks to numerous other doors at the storage facility. A police report said that it was not immediately known if any property was stolen from other storage units.The burglary, which remains under investigation, happened between 10 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday. Anyone with information is to call 724-284-8100.10:45 p.m. Friday — A vandal used an unknown blunt instrument to damage a 73-year-old man’s mailbox post at his home in the 400 block of Main Street in Prospect. Damage was estimated at $50.Police did not have any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police.Thursday — An unknown thief stole two chain saws from a 48-year-old man’s home in the 1100 block of Evans City Road in Connoquenessing Township. The theft happened between June 15 and Thursday.The stolen chain saws are a Stihl MS170 and a Poulan model. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

State Police, KittanningSaturday — An unknown thief between midnight and 7 a.m. broke into three vehicles at a home’s driveway on Sunset Street in Manor Township. About $4, three packs of cigarettes and a small flashlight were stolen from the vehicles.

State Police, Mercer7:15 a.m. Friday — Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Springfield Township. The crash happened when a pickup truck driven by Todd M. Hahn, 39, of Greenville rear-ended another pickup on Route 19 just south of Cannery Road.Hahn suffered a minor injury. The other driver, Robert J. Butler, 68, of Sandy Lake, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with unknown injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.Police cited Hahn for driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
