Jean E. Hoagland

Jean E. Hoagland, a 54-year resident of Grove City, passed away Thursday evening at the Grove City Medical Center following a three-month illness. She was 78.

Jean was born in Butler County on Nov. 16, 1937, to John and Irene Lowry Jardin. She married David L. Hoagland on May 5, 1963. She was a homemaker and a former bookkeeper in the area.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City.

Jean was a graduate of Butler High School in the Class of 1955. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, and she formerly bowled in local leagues.

Jean is survived by her husband, David, at home; two daughters, Jennifer McCommon and her husband, Jeffrey, of Grove City and Julie Basham and her husband, Wayne, of Apopka, Fla.; one granddaughter, Morgan McCommon of Grove City; and one sister, Joyce Black of Cabot.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Lauren McCommon; one sister, Doris Schaeffer; and one brother, Ronald Jardin.

HOAGLAND — Private family services will be held Monday for Jean E. Hoagland, who died Thursday, June 23, 2016, in the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, with the Rev. Howard Greenfield, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.Memorials can be sent to the Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S.
