Not above the law

Regarding “Confederate flag ordered removed” (June 16, Page 9), about the removal of the Confederate flag by state Rep. Vanessa Brown from a historical society Flag Day display inside the State Capitol.

The story contained a quote that I find ironic. “I just did what I thought was right,” by Rep. Brown was probably the same utterance that many Confederate soldiers used when asked why they fought.

Brown’s actions should have been addressed by the capital police with arrest, as would have happened to any person tampering with a display in the Capitol building. This “I know what’s right” attitude of today’s politicians should be stopped in its tracks.
