2 escapees from youth facility quickly caught
ALLEGHENY TWP — Two men escaped Friday night from the Western Pa Child Care facility but were caught quickly.
Anthony Blackwell, 20, and Chace Johnson, 18, both of Pittsburgh, fled the youth facility at 7:30 p.m., according to a state police report.
Blackwell was caught by Western Pa staff a short distance from the facility while Johnson was caught later about 4 miles away.
Both were placed in the Butler County prison.
They escaped out an exit door that Johnson had damaged. He said he damaged the door throughout the day by pulling on the metal around the door and exposing alarm wires, the report says.
Blackwell is charged with felony escape, and Johnson is charged with felon escape and criminal mischief.
Asked about the escape, Joshua Shaw, a supervisor at Western PA Child Care, said Saturday morning, “My official response is no comment.”
