Coward, BlueSox score win

Seneca Valley graduate and Butler BlueSox pitcher Connor Coward struck out eight and walked none to earn the victory in a 10-4 road decision over Lafayette (Ind.) Wednesday night.

Coward allowed four runs on five hits in seven innings.

He received ample run support as the Sox led 7-0 entering the bottom of the fifth.

Nick Stotler went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Garret Vrbanic, Will Schneider, Jamie Switalski and Russell Clark each had two hits.

Butler’s trio of pitchers, which included relievers Carter Krick and Switalski, combined for 11 strikeouts and no walks.

The BlueSox (8-5) moved into sole possession of first place in the East Division and play at Lafayette (5-6) tonight.
