Jeeps will take over Butler during downtown event

Jeep enthusiasts enjoy the 2015 Jeep Invasion which traditionally stops traffic in downtown Butler. This year's event begins at 6 p.m. Friday for spectators and will continue until 10 p.m.

It has become an annual tradition that the Butler County community and Jeepers from across the country look forward to — the Jeep Invasion.

The Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival's sold out signature event returns to downtown Butler on Friday.

During this event, select streets are closed to traffic and Jeeps of all shapes, sizes and colors are parked for thousands of visitors to inspect and admire.

Jeep Invasion parking begins at 5 p.m. and the event officially starts at 6 and runs until 10 p.m. It is sponsored by Pennzoil.

DJs will play music throughout the night to create a festive atmosphere downtown. Food vendors also will be available at multiple locations.

“It really is amazing to see more than 1,000 Jeeps lining the streets and huge crowds walking around to see them all,” said Patti Jo Lambert, festival director.

“Jeep owners tell us over and over that the Invasion is one of their favorite aspects of the event, and they love how the Butler community welcomes them here.”

Pennzoil will offer a special treat to Invasion attendees when the company unveils its new national television commercial on a Jumbotron at the Butler County Courthouse.

Stars of CNBC's “The Car Chasers” show, Jeff Allen and Meg Bailey, also will be on hand to greet Jeep enthusiasts, sign autographs, take pictures and participate in aspects of the event.
