BUTLER TWP — A 27-year-old New York man died after an apparent drug overdose at a Butler Township hotel, police confirmed Friday.

Township police said they were called to the Hampton Inn at Butler Crossing shortly after 9 a.m. Friday after the man was found in a room at the hotel.

It was not immediately clear if the man was found dead or when he was pronounced dead. A message left with the office of Butler County Coroner’s office was not returned.

Police Chief John Hays said the department was not releasing the man’s name or any information regarding the incident, citing the department’s ongoing investigation.

“We have some avenues we’re looking into,” Hays said Friday.
