Colleagues honor Purvis

Health Clinic hosts dinner

BUTLER TWP — Jean B. Purvis of Butler was honored with a tribute dinner at the Butler Country Club sponsored by the Community Health Clinic of Butler County.

More than 160 friends, family and colleagues attended the May 22 event.

She was instrumental in starting the clinic and was co-chairman of the capital campaign that began the clinic in 2007.

The clinic provides free medical and dental care to eligible county residents.

Presentations about Purvis were given by Ken DeFurio, president and CEO of the Butler Health System; Kristy Wright, former CEO of the Visiting Nurses Association; Nick Neupauer, president of Butler County Community College; Amy Beiler, a friend of Purvis; Rex Knisley, a member of the A.J. Palumbo Foundation Board of Directors, and Kim Reamer, chief operating officer of the health clinic.

Knisley presented a $50,000 check from the A.J. Palumbo Foundation to the health clinic.

Presentations of $10,000 from the Glenn R. Logan and Rhea Jean McCandless Logan Family Trust and $10,000 from the J. Robert and Alberta C. Rogers Memorial Charitable Trust to the clinic, in honor of Purvis, were made by businessman Robert Heaton.

County commissioners Leslie Osche, Kim Geyer and Kevin Boozel presented a proclamation honoring Purvis. U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly of Butler sent a special certificate for her service to the community along with a flag that was flown over the Capitol.

Larry Berg was master of ceremonies for the dinner.

Purvis has made many contributions to the county, including being involved with a number of groups such as the Butler Health System Foundation, the Butler County Historical Society, the Butler School Board, the Butler County Community College Foundation, and the Visiting Nurses Association.

She also continues to be an active Community Health Clinic board member.
