Betty Jean Hoffman, 82, of Harrisville passed away Monday at Select Specialty Hospital in Warren, Ohio, after an extended illness.

She was born Feb. 4, 1934, in Harrisville and was the daughter of the late Stephen Hogue and Mildred Graham Hogue.

Betty was a 1952 graduate of Harrisville High School. She married her husband, Frederick M. Hoffman Jan. 9, 1953, and he survives. Betty was a longtime caregiver to several elderly friends in the area. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved gospel music. Her favorite song was “Amazing Grace.” Betty was a Christian.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her son, Charles L. Hoffman of Harrisville; five grandchildren, Tammy Bodenheimer of Greensburg, Jodi Vernon of Grove City, Jeff Sweetapple of Grove City and two other grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan Davis of Grove City; one sister-in-law, Joan Hogue; her longtime caregivers, Denise Dunwoody and Sandy Smith; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by two sons, Frederick Hoffman and Dennis Hoffman; one brother, Dick Hogue; two sisters, Ruth Anne Myers and Wanda Wilson; and three brothers-in law, Bob Myers, Jim Wilson and Red Davis.

HOFFMAN — Family and friends of Betty Jean Hoffman, who died Monday, May 23, 2016, will be welcomed from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenton Shaw, pastor of Wayside Community Church, officiating.
