Names of drivers involved in crash at Mars reported

MARS — The names have been released of the people involved in a crash that occurred Thursday on Route 228 that injured one and caused a traffic jam.

Eli Hostetter of Enon Valley was the driver of the dump truck. He had his leg pinned between the driver’s side door and a steel column after rear-ending a flatbed truck at the intersection between Route 228 and Brickyard Road.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Jerry Ireland of Prospect was the driver of the flatbed truck. He was not injured, and his truck had minor damage to its rear.

Adams Township police are inspecting the dump truck to see what may have caused the accident.

Robert Scanlon, assistant chief for the township police department, said the dump truck was about 2,500 pounds overweight and that braking may have been an issue.
