Drug arrest made after traffic stop

Police report finding heroin

A traffic stop landed a Butler man in jail after city police say they found several dozen stamp bags of suspected heroin in his car.

Danielle Cornel Frazier, 35, faces felony drug charges stemming from the stop shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday on Franklin Street. He is being held in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail.

Police said they pulled over a car that Frazier was driving when they recognized him and knew he did not have a valid license. Patrolman Travis Buckshire was hit with the smell of marijuana when he got to the vehicle.

According to court documents, police also knew Frazier to be “involved with the distribution of narcotics.” After the defendant stepped out of the car for a pat-down search, Buckshire noticed a suspicious package on the driver’s seat floor.

The package, believed to be holding a brick of heroin, was seized. Later, a field test confirmed police suspicions.

A brick typically contains five bundles of heroin. A bundle contains 10 bags, which typically fetch about $10 per bag in street sales.

Police about two hours after the traffic stop obtained a search warrant for the car.

The search turned up 10 additional bags of heroin under the driver’s seat, documents said, and a blunt wrap containing suspected marijuana.

District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Frazier on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He also was cited for driving without a license.

Frazier’s preliminary hearing is set for June 13.
