'Dear Edwina Jr.'

Youth musical has all the answers

FRANKLIN TWP, Beaver County — The Red Barn Players’ will present the musical “Dear Edwina Jr.” as part of their Theatre for Young Audiences Project running Friday through Sunday.

This family-friendly production is being directed by Annette Quinn of Mars and Tom Licker of Baden, with musical direction by Mary Ann Mangini-Carmella of Cranberry Township.

Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Red Barn Theatre on Route 288, the Ellwood-Zelienople Road.

The musical is from the creators of “Junie B. Jones” and deals with solving some of life’s biggest problems. In the show, Edwina Spoonapple is setting out to become a famous advice giver. With the help of lots of her neighborhood friends, Edwina tackles such topics as how to save money, how to set a table, and how to make friends.

The cast includes:

Torrance Bajuszik of Saxonburg; Liam Quinn of Mars; Calina Purnsley, Anna Cantella, Avery Flood, and Emily and Owen Tekelenburg, all of Zelienople; Caroline Zulick of Evans City; Nikki Williams, Ella Heasley, Jonathan Allen and Dalryn Schuster, all of Harmony; and Cassidy Spirk, Addilyn Albertini, Anna Byers and Michael Ammerman, all of Cranberry Township;

Anna Cantella,Hannah Mosholder, Natalie Wright and Olivia Morrow, all of Ellwood City; Juliana Romanelli and Liam and Thea Cross, all of Sewickley; Grace Plassmeyer of Beaver Falls; Thea Cross, Nikki Williams, Juliana Romanelli, and Victoria and Nicholas Vanhorenbeck, all of Aliquippa; and Marija Gillette and Connor Benson, both of Freedom.

Also, the youth will be hosting a lemonade stand during the show to raise money for kids with cancer through the foundation Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
