CRANBERRY TWP — The Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania were to recognize 63 scouts, nine from Butler County, Saturday at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township for earning their Gold Awards, the highest award in Girl Scouting.

Butler Girl Scouts being recognized are Lindsay Boettner of Slippery Rock Troop 26172, LarissaEdinboro of Butler Troop 21968, Allison Jones of Lyndora, Troop 26172, Alyssa Jo Tice of Harmony, Troop 20826, Pasqualina Tirk of Butler, Troop 20174, Abbey White of Seven Fields, Troop 20492, Tarrah Freund of Renfrew, Troop 20451, Gina McKinney of Prospect, Troop 20863, and Holly Wolfe of Sarver, Troop 54353.

The scouts also earned their honors in time to celebrate this year as the Gold Award Centennial to which the Girl Scouts invite any Gold Award alumnae to join in “Celebrating 100 Years of Changing the World.”

“Girls who earn the Gold Award do more than achieve recognition,” said Patricia Burkart, CEO of the regional scouts. “Through their Gold Awards projects, they create meaningful and lasting changes that make their communities better places to live.”
