Geist breaks more records

Knoch thrower sets marks at Baldwin Invite

Jordan Geist was at it again.

The Knoch junior threw the discus 193 feet, 6 inches to win the event at the Baldwin Invitational Friday.

That throw is a Knoch record. The previous mark was held by Geist at 182-10.

Geist also won the shot put with a throw of 72-6.

Both throws were Baldwin Invitational records.

Pine-Richland Invitational — The Butler girls won their fourth invitational of the season at the 52-team Pine-Richland Invitational.

Emily Horstman wasn't the only Golden Tornado girls track athlete to shine.

Horstman won the 100 with a record time of 11.96 and was second in the 200 (25.95), but Taylor Weaver also won the pole vault with a 10-6 effort.

Alexis Hopper was second in the high jump (5-2) and Maggie Welty was second in the 1,600 run (5:17.91).

The Tornado 400-meter relay team of Maddie Glew, Horstman, Odile Enslen and Shana Hoy was also seconds (50.18) and Hoy was third in the 200 at 26.79.

Other placers for Butler were: Enslin in the 300 hurdles (fourth), Liz Simms in the 800 (fourth), Michaela Brydon in the 3,200 (fourth), Jena Reinheimer in the discus (fourth), Juliana DiPippa in the long jump (fourth), the 1,600 relay team of Maddie Tonini, Cienna Tonini, Kelly Kabay and Shana Hoy (fourth), Reinheimer in the shot put (fifth), the 3,200 relay team of Erin LeMay, Welty, Emma LeMay and Simms (fifth) and Jessica Bishop in the pole vault (seventh).

Softball

Jessi Reed tripled and singled twice and was also the winning pitcher as Knoch continued to roll with an 11-5 win over Hampton in the section finale.

Reed struck out five to get the win.

Abigail Black also had a triple and Sydney Natili had three hits, including a double, for the Knights (14-3, 7-3).

A-C Valley 5, Keystone 3 — Lauren McNany had two doubles and Cami McNany had a single and a double to lead the Falcons.

Katie Stumpner picked up the win, striking out four in seven innings for A-C Valley (6-5).
