Summit Township man faces felony drug charge

Bradley Weitzel

A Summit Township man is jailed on felony and other drug charges stemming from a weekend arrest in Butler that netted county narcotics officers and city police dozens of bags of suspected heroin as well as crack cocaine and prescription pills.

Bradley E. Weitzel, 29, was arrested Friday night after officers responded to a report of suspicious activity on West North Street.

Police stopped Weitzel driving a car that had been seen in the area where they had received recent complaints of suspected drug dealing, according to court documents.

The defendant was “very nervous” when officers asked him to step out of the vehicle, police said.

Before police even conducted a pat-down search, Weitzel admitted that he was holding drugs. A search turned up 72 stamp bags of heroin and a crack pipe in one of his pockets, according to officers.

In two other pockets, police found a baggie of suspected crack and a pair of used syringes.

Police said a search of the car turned up a label-less prescription bottle with 11 pills of the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam.

Weitzel was arraigned on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony, and three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

Police also ticketed him for careless driving.
