Nicole Boyle
Mother of 3 killed when car struck pole

CENTER TWP — The driver who died in a one-car crash early Monday morning was the mother of three children.

The woman, who state police identified as 27-year-old Nicole LittleDove Boyle of Butler, died at the scene.

Police said her car was traveling south on Sunset Drive when it left the road between 2 and 2:30 a.m. and snapped off a utility pole near Shanahan Road.

She was employed by RMI International as a security officer at AK Steel in Butler Township. Jason Thomas, RMI security manager at AK Steel, where Boyle was a main gate officer and a dispatcher, said she was not on her way to or from a shift when the crash occurred.

He called Boyle a well-liked individual and “a great kid” who was respected among RMI and AK employees. She had just hit her one-year mark with RMI about a week ago, Thomas said.

“She (Boyle) made everybody around her better. She’s going to be missed. Everybody loved her, not just with RMI, but AK as well,” Thomas said.

Her children are ages 7, 5 and 4 years old.

Among her survivors are her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Her father, Larry W. Boyle of Carbon Center, said this morning that his family did not want to comment on his daughter’s accident.

Police said they don’t know exactly when the crash happened and acknowledged Boyle’s car was not discovered until possibly hours after the wreck.

Several homeowners reported hearing a loud noise between 2 and 2:30 a.m., but they did not call authorities, believing the noise was from an overnight thunderstorm.

Police said they would not be doing an accident reconstruction.

The Hile Funeral Home is handling her funeral arrangements. Her obituary is on Page 3.
