Courting delegates

The article quoting state Rep. Lou Barletta (“State is important in delegate race,” April 21, Page 4) was informative but disturbing.

It doesn’t matter who you vote for in the primary, the Republican delegates can vote for whom they please. Often their votes are influenced by who provides “things like travel, meals, subsistence and expenses.” Campaigns are already making promises; a South Dakota delegate told her hometown newspaper that Kasich aides offered to “take care” of her while she’s in Cleveland, according to columnist Doyle McManus. This is a very corrupt system.

In the mail I recently received a political advertisement and a telephone call from a PAC called New Day for America, from Columbus, Ohio. This was in support of local delegate. It makes you wonder if they have been influenced by this.

A little research reveals this PAC supports Kasich and is supported by a multibillionaire Democrat. What strange bedfellows are produced by politicians.

There is no doubt the system needs to be corrected so that every vote counts. If not, the silent majority will seek a party where they feel they have a voice.
