WPIAL sets team track playoffsNine Butler County track and field teams will be in action Tuesday in the WPIAL team playoffs. They include:Class AAASeneca Valley’s boys and girls will host a semifinal meet at NexTier Stadium. The Raider boys will go up against New Castle, Knoch and Chartiers Valley.SV’s girls will face Knoch, Chartiers Valley and West Allegheny.Butler’s girls will travel to Norwin, where the Knights will also host Baldwin and Franklin Regional.Both Mars teams will compete at North Allegheny. The boys’ meet will also include NA, Central Catholic and Moon.North Allegheny will host the girls’ meet, but the Tigers will not be competing. The field will have Mars, Mount Lebanon, Moon and Peters Township.Class AAFreeport’s boys and girls will play host to Riverside and Southmoreland in boys action and Mohawk, California and Southmoreland on the girls’ side.All meets will begin at 3 p.m.The winner of each semifinal meet will advance to the WPIAL Team Championships, to be held May 9 at Baldwin High School.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior pole vaulter Kaitlyn Clark has been named PSAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Clark hit the NCAA’s automatic qualifying mark in the pole vault at last week’s SRU Open. Her 4.00 meter clearance is best in the PSAC and currently ranks sixth in the nation.
