2 cycle riders hurt in crash on Rt. 356

JEFFERSON TWP — A young Pittsburgh couple ended up with broken bones and other injuries Wednesday evening when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a sport utility vehicle, authorities said.

Ryan M. Woodrow, 21, was driving his Harley-Davidson Wide Glide south on Route 356 about 5:10 p.m. when a Jeep Liberty pulled out from Fisher Road, according to state police.

Woodrow was unable to stop in time and struck the left, front bump of the Jeep driven by Kevin J. Pizor, 24, of Butler. The collision sent Woodrow and his passenger, 19-year-old Lilly K. White, flying off the bike.

White landed in a home’s front yard. Rescuers found Woodrow on the side of the road. He was in a lot of pain, said Chief Chris Ballina of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company.

Emergency crews said both of Woodrow’s legs were broken above the ankle. White suffered a collapsed lung and fractured foot.

Saxonburg Ambulance took both to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Their conditions this morning were not known.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet. The cycle was badly damaged.

Pizor, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt. Police said he faces a ticket for making an improper left turn.
