Monday — John H. Slick Sr., 28, of Tarentum, Allegheny County, was charged with shoplifting a 40-inch, flat-screen television last week from the Kmart store at Pullman Square.

Police said Slick on April 18 took off running with the TV and was seen headed toward Fourth Avenue. He dashed through AK Steel property in his attempted getaway.

Officers spotted him running down Pillow Street, still holding the TV, valued at $279. He eventually went into a convenience store and put the television behind the counter.

Police stopped Slick after he left the store. He admitted taking the TV, documents said. Officers searched him and found a suspected drug pipe and a used syringe.

Slick, who has one prior shoplifting arrest, is charged with retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and defiant trespass.

Monday — Justin T. Zarnick, 33, and Christina N. Zarnick, 32, both of Butler, were charged with shoplifting more than $200 worth of merchandise at the Butler Commons' Walmart on April 13. Both suspects are charged with retail theft and conspiracy.

Monday — Police cited two residents for violating the township's burning ordinance Saturday. Jesse A. Binus, 29, was caught illegally burning at his Blair Drive home. Vincent Schmidt, 23, is accused of burning waste after hours at his South Butler home.

4:39 a.m. Saturday — Christopher M. O'Malley, 22, of Butler allegedly used lewd and obscene language at another person at the Magic Coin Laundromat at the Greater Butler Mart. Police cited O'Malley for disorderly conduct and harassment.

1 p.m. Friday — Wendy L. Hartnett, 25, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting $109 worth of merchandise at the Walmart at Butler Commons. Police cited Hartnett for retail theft.

1:18 a.m. Saturday — Angela M. McDowell, 50, of Butler was arrested for drunken driving after a one-vehicle crash on the ramp from New Castle Road to Route 422 east.

Police said McDowell crossed over both eastbound lanes and hit a cement Jersey barrier. The car spun out and ended sideways on the road. She fled but police found her in front of the Holiday Inn Express on North Duffy Road.

McDowell was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, careless driving and reckless driving. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.

5:09 p.m. April 11 — Amy L. Allaman, 36, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting $413 in merchandise at the Boscov's department store in Clearview Mall in Center Township. Allaman is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

8:20 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Clifton M. Miller, 56, of Templeton struck a deer on Route 28 south just east of Horseshoe Drive in South Buffalo Township. Miller was not hurt, but his car had to be towed.

10:50 p.m. Saturday — Sarah A. Wright, 39, of Grove City was hurt when her car struck a dog that ran onto Sandy Lake Road in Pine Township, Mercer County. Wright, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury.

Police said the car sustained minor damaged. The fate of the dog was not immediately known.

2:36 a.m. Saturday — Chad M. Magee, 34, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a one-vehicle wreck in Stoneboro. The crash happened when Magee lost control of his speeding pickup on Mine Street just east of Fredonia Road.

The truck went off the road and hit a brick mailbox. The pickup traveled back onto the road and hit at least two driveway markers and then a utility pole.

Magee got out of the truck with a cooler of beer, which he set along the side of the road before he walked away. Police said they later found the suspect at his father's home in Stoneboro, sleeping on the couch.

Troopers believe he was impaired by alcohol but he refused to submit to a blood test.
