Butler girls track wins TSTCA title

The Butler girls track and field team added a Tri-State Track Coaches Association outdoor championship to go with its indoor one.

The Golden Tornado got a first-place finish from their 400-meter relay team and a pair of second place finishes by Emily Horstman to win the 33-team field at the TSTCA Outdoor Championships.

The 400 relay team of Savannah Miller, Horstman, Odile Enslen and Shana Hoy finished with a time of 50.13 seconds to win the event.

Horstman ran times of 12.33 and 25.58 in the 100- and 200-meter dash respectively to aid Butler's win.

Liz Simms was second in the 800. Lexi Hopper was third in the high jump and Jena Reinheimer third in the discus.

Maggie Welty was fourth in the 1,600-meter run and Enslen fourth in the 300 hurdles.

Butler finished with 65.5 team points. Peters Township was second with 56 points.

The Butler girls won the TSTCA Indoor Championship meet in February.

The Butler boys finished 10th.

Nathan Kibbie finished in the top eight in three events: the 100, 200 and as a member of the 400-meter relay.

West Middlesex Big Red Invitational — Brady Dalton continued her impressive spring with first-place finishes in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles for the Slippery Rock girls.

Dalton ran a time of 15.9 in the 100 hurdles and 47.6 in the 300 hurdles.

Claudia Allen was second in the 100 hurdles (16.4), third in the 300 hurdles (49.2) and fourth in the high jump (4 feet, 6 inches)

Sarah Gold was second in the pole vault at 8-6.

On the boys side, Fred Urbaniak won the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.8. Gunner Coleman was first in the 300 hurdles at 42.2 and Urbaniak was second at 42.5.

Softball

Jen Miller singled, doubled, tripled and drove in five runs as Butler rolled to an 11-3 win at Kiski Saturday afternoon.

Alexis Schmeider relieved an injured Alex Graham in the second inning and picked up the win.

Julia Gibson went 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Golden Tornado (2-6).

Gunner Becker drove home Zach Van Dyke in the bottom of the first inning for the game's only run as Slippery Rock eked out a 1-0 win Saturday afternoon.

Dylan Dingel picked up the win, scattering six hits over seven innings of work. He struck out just one, but didn't walk a batter.
