Tornado girls top NA in track

Emily Horstman had a hand in four winning events as the Butler girls track and field team downed North Allegheny 92.7-57.3 at Butler High School on a soggy Monday afternoon.

Horstman won the 100, 200 and ran legs on the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams.

Alexis Leech won the 400 and was a part of the 1,600 relay win.

The Butler girls won 12 of the 18 events to move to 3-0 in section meets this season.

On the boys side, Brady Hartle won the long jump and triple jump for the Tornado boys in a 103-47 loss.

Boys Volleyball

Nash Bryan continued his torrid start to the season with 17 kills as the Butler boys volleyball team downed Baldwin 25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18.

Matt Wetzel added 34 assists and Dan Kline pitched in 11 digs for the Golden Tornado (5-1), who will travel to take on section foe Shaler tonight.

Girls Lacrosse

Brenna Moore scored both first-half goals for Knoch, which took a 2-0 lead into the break and cruised to an 8-3 win over Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic.

Moore scored another goal in the second half.

Ally Riley and Taylor Carr also scored a pair of goals. Mikayla Spreng rounded out the scoring for the Knights.
