Michael Curcio

Michael Curcio, 85, of Butler passed away Friday at the VA Hospice.

Born April 28, 1930, in Butler, he was a son of the late John and Jenny (Cosmano) Curcio.

He retired in 1983 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an auditor for the Liquor Control Board.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He earned the rank of staff sergeant. He received the Korean Service Medal, the United States Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was a lifetime member of the United Commercial Travelers, the Sons of Italy and the VFW Post 249.

He was also very active in the American Legion Michael Kosar Post 778 in Lyndora, where he served as first vice for 10 years and was on the bingo committee. He was a member of the board for Irene Stacy Mental Health.

He enjoyed playing poker and was an avid professional and college football fan.

Surviving are three daughters, MaryAnn (Michael) Gaiser, Susan (Susie) Curcio and Nancy Curcio, all of Butler; his son, Michael J. (Diane) Curcio of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Christopher and Elizabeth Gaiser, both of Butler, and Steven and Ethan Curcio, both of Kentucky; two great-grandchildren, Chance Gaiser and Ava Smith, both of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. (Soley) Curcio, who passed away Oct. 11, 2015; two sisters; and one brother.

CURCIO — Friends of Michael Curcio, who died Friday, April 1, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
