Chamber president proud of county's success

Stan Kosciuszko is president of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce

The wide diversity of businesses in Butler County directly contributes to a regional synergy of activity and growth.

That diversity is evident from the educational sector — one of only a few Pennsylvania counties to have a community college and a state college — and medical facilities — locally owned and nationally recognized — to manufacturing, service and retail.

Our strength lies in the dependability of second- and third-generation family-owned businesses, to new and innovative technologies as well as international powerhouse industries.

The county has consistently been one of the highest growth areas in Pennsylvania as well as nationally with low unemployment and high “livability” indexes.

Businesses highlighted in this edition have proven that their commitment to their mission, their employees and their communities directly impacts their success and “progress.”

With progress comes challenges, and we are not immune to these. However, where we do have an advantage is with the willingness of interested private and governmental entities to work together to solve problems and collectively advance our area.

Infrastructure will constantly be a concern to all regions, and by planning and speaking with a unified voice, we can solve many of these issues.

Workforce development is also a concern in many areas, and we have the expertise of our educational resources to provide customized solutions to these needs.

Our objectives then become simple as we promote a better understanding of the nation's private enterprise system: coordinate the efforts of commerce, industry and the professions in maintaining and strengthening a sound and healthy business climate in the Butler area.We consistently sponsor aggressive programs of work and stimulate activities that will provide full development and employment of our human and economic resources.Specific workshops dealing with financing, marketing, sales and management provide tangible training to the business community.By sponsoring symposiums such as Emergency Preparedness and Emerging Technology with Butler County Community College, Slippery Rock University and the business community, we inform our base of new and critical procedures and resources to assist them.Leadership Butler County consistently has been rated as the No. 1 business development training program in the region as it provides creative and educated business leadership. We encourage effective coordination of all interested parties in solving community problems, most recently by taking an active role in the Unified Butler Plan initiated by a consortium of private, governmental and community organizations. We then will have a role in initiating constructive community action and creating broad understanding and appreciation of the great opportunities in the area. With our partners such as the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau and the Community Development Corporation of Butler County, we can continue to promote the advantages and assets of our community in the area, in the state and in the world.Read through this publication and you will see that together we have succeeded.
