Geist claims shot put title

Jordan Geist keeps breaking records.

And keeps winning gold medals.

The Knoch junior uncorked a throw of 71 feet, 3¼ inches in the shot put Saturday to win the title in the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association indoor track and field championships at Penn State University.

The throw was also a state indoor record.

Geist broke the record of 68-11¼ set by Ryan Whiting of Central Dauphin in 2005.

Geist’s teammate, Brennan McTighe placed fourth with a throw of 55-1½.

Moniteau’s Maura Kimmel broke her own school record in the shot put with a throw of 43-6 to place fourth.

Seneca Valley’s Mike Kolor set a school record and was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1 minutes, 53.13 seconds.

He was also on the Raiders’ distance medley relay team that set a school mark with a time of 10:32. Other members of that team are Seth Ketler, Parker Laughlin and Alex Dixon.
