Seven area boys and girls basketball teams found out who they will play and when in the first round of the PIAA basketball playoffs that begin Friday.

The Mars boys basketball team will take on District 9 champion Clearfield in a Class AAA game Friday at 7 p.m. at DuBois Middle School.

The District 9 champion Karns City girls basketball team will battle Carlynton at 6 p.m. Friday at Clarion University.

Two local boys teams will battle when WPIAL Class A champion Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic meets Union at 6 p.m. Friday at Gateway.

District 9 Class AA runner-up Moniteau will play OLSH at 6 p.m. Friday at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic.

The Mars girls basketball team will square off with District 10 runner-up Mercyhurst Prep in a Class AAA game at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Gannon University.

The WPIAL Class A runner-up Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic girls basketball team will take on District 10 runner-up Cochranton at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at North Allegheny.
