Hearing postponed for Pittsburgh manPITTSBURGH — A preliminary hearing has been postponed for a Pennsylvania man accused of fighting with police before his son fatally stabbed a K-9 and was killed by officers.Thursday’s hearing for 60-year-old Bruce Kelley Sr. was postponed until Feb. 18.Prosecutors say Pittsburgh-area police shot 12 times at 37-year-old Bruce Kelley Jr. after he killed the K-9.Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. is reviewing the use of the dog against the Kelleys, as well as the fatal shooting of Kelley Jr.That happened Jan. 31 when Port Authority of Allegheny County police saw the men drinking alcohol in a busway gazebo in Wilkinsburg.Kelley Sr. is charged with aggravated assault and other crimes.Defense attorney Blaine Jones says he delayed the hearing so Kelley could grieve for his son before “we tackle this case.”

Chief to fire officer in Heinz Field arrestPITTSBURGH — The city police chief wants to fire an officer who allegedly roughed up a drunk man he arrested at a high school championship football game in November, the Pittsburgh’s police union attorney said.Sgt. Stephen Matakovich, 47, a 22-year veteran, has been suspended for five days pending termination, Fraternal Order of Police attorney Bryan Campbell said.
