Karns City hires business directorKARNS CITY — The Karns City School District has hired Deana Turner as the director of business affairs.Turner will receive a prorated salary of $55,000 for the rest of the 2015-2016 school year.The board voted Monday for a contract with Turner from Jan. 22 through June 30, 2018.Turner replaces Linnea Lincoln, who resigned effective Jan. 5.Lincoln started at the district in January 2014 but was placed on paid administrative leave in May 2015 after she presented a proposed 2015-2016 budget to the school board of $23.8 million, which was less than the previous year’s $25.7 million budget.Lincoln was reinstated in August 2015, but left last month.

Harmony council meets MondayHARMONY — Borough council will meet Monday evening despite the day being Presidents Day.Council will reconvene as a continuation of its Feb. 2 meeting to pass its 2016 budget.The budget was reopened to consider adjustments to line items, including a slight tax increase for the Harmony Fire District.The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, which is the deadline for the borough to pass its budget.
