Bone marrow drive scheduled

Match sought for Butler freshman

CENTER TWP — The Newhaven Court at Clearview senior living community at 100 Newhaven Lane will have a bone marrow registration drive from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in hopes of finding a match for an employee’s teenage daughter.

Beth Fleming is a resident care assistant/medication assistant whose daughter, Chloe, 15, has bone marrow cancer.

“We’re looking for a match,” said Gary Renwick, executive director of Newhaven Court. “There is only an 11 percent chance of finding a true match for her. We are looking for a miracle.”

Chloe is a freshman at Butler High School.

“This is a 15-year-old girl who has late-stage bone marrow cancer,” Renwick said. “We want to do everything we can to support our team members.”

Renwick said the bone marrow registration process only takes a few minutes.

“It’s as simple as coming in, registering, and if you meet the qualifications, it’s a simple swab of the inside of the cheek,” he said.
