Several Butler County school districts have announced dates for kindergarten registration for the 2016-2017.

Children must be 5 years old before Sept. 1 to register for kindergarten for next school year.

Karns City

Students in the Karns City School District should be present for registration from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 11.

Registration will be at Chicora Elementary School’s gymnasium, even for students who will attend Sugarcreek Elementary School.

The child’s birth certificate, updated immunization record, proof of residency and emergency telephone numbers should be available on registration day.

Mars

The Mars School District will host a kindergarten preview day March 17 at the Mars Area Primary Center, 547 Route 228. There will be two preview sessions, one from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and another from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The district’s registration will start at 10 a.m. April 8 in the Mars Area Administration Building, 545 Route 228. Using a lottery system, completed registration packets will be accepted to determine if students go to the morning or afternoon kindergarten sessions.

A copy of the child’s birth certificate, an updated immunization record and proof of residence will be required.

South Butler

In the South Butler School District, a kindergarten readiness information meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. March 17 in the cafeteria of the primary school, 328 Knoch Road.

A spring fling will be March 17 with three sessions: 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.; 11 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. This will be an opportunity for children and parents to visit classrooms and meet the teachers.

Registration will be April 4-7 at the primary school and requires proof of residency, the child’s original birth certificate, immunization records and custody papers when applicable.
