Butler PoliceFriday — Kasey R. Dischman, 29, of Butler was arrested stemming from a shoplifting incident last month at the Kmart store at Pullman Square.Police initially picked up Dischman, who was wanted by Butler Township police on a warrant in an unrelated case. When they found her on Third Avenue, according to court documents, a search of her purse turned up several clothing items that still had the sales tags on them.Inside a makeup bag in the purse, police found eight empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, a cooking spoon and syringe, documents said.Police later tracked the $44 worth of clothing items to the Kmart, where investigators reviewed store surveillance video that they say showed Dischman taking the property.A two-time convicted shoplifter, Dischman was arraigned on a felony charge of retail theft and misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.Friday — Police charged Michael R. Stein, 30, of Butler with possession of a controlled substance in connection with a suspected heroin overdose Jan. 29 at a home on the 300 block of West Wayne Street.City fire department paramedics were already treating Stein when police got there. He was not breathing and turning blue, according to court documents. When rescuers pulled him from the bathroom, two stamp bags of suspected heroin fell out of his right hand.The medics used the heroin antidote Narcan to revive Stein. Police later found two more bags of suspected heroin that belonged to the suspect, documents said. He refused further medical treatment.Friday — Tressa L. Young, 28, of Butler was charged in a suspected drugged driving crash last month. She did not stop after her vehicle struck a car about 8:50 a.m. Jan. 20 at Chestnut and Brady streets.Another motorist saw the wreck and followed the suspect’s vehicle, eventually getting the license plate number. Police a short time later found Young in the vehicle, court documents said.Young was passed out in the driver’s seat of the still-running vehicle, according to a police affidavit. An officer noticed several pills in a bottle, which was in a cup holder.The suspect was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports showed the presence of anti-anxiety prescription medication, cocaine and marijuana, documents said.Young is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.6:16 p.m. Feb. 2 — A week after a city man was barred from Butler Public Library on North McKean Street, police found him back there.Police charged Adam J. Aiken, 31, of Butler with misdemeanor trespass.Court documents noted that Aiken was banned from the library Jan. 25 when he showed up there intoxicated.

Butler Township PoliceWednesday — Michael B. Marzullo, 39, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle crash Jan. 26 on the 100 block of Dutchtown Road. Police said Marzullo ran off the road and struck several mailboxes.In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with careless driving.5:11 p.m. Tuesday — John H. Slick Jr., 27, of Tarentum, Allegheny County, and Amy L. Holmes, 31, of Butler were caught allegedly shoplifting $46 worth of groceries at the Walmart at Butler Commons.Slick is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft. Holmes is charged with a summary count of retail theft.3:20 p.m. Tuesday — Derek L. McCance, 29, of Butler ran off and but was later nabbed after he allegedly tried to steal $40 in merchandise from the Butler Commons’ Walmart.McCance is charged with retail theft and disorderly conduct. He was placed in Butler County Prison after police learned he was wanted on warrants out of Clarion County and Florida.
