Monday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for William C. Parsons, 29, no known address, in connection with a suspected weekend domestic assault at a home in the 300 block of Wagner Avenue.

Parsons is accused of punching Nikki Mathews at her home while she held the couple’s 3-year-old son near the top of the stairs. Mathews dropped the child during the assault, according to court documents.

Another woman was in the house and saw the altercation. She rushed in and grabbed the boy to prevent him from getting hurt or falling down the stairs, police said.

Parsons was gone when police got there. Mathews suffered minor injuries including swelling to the left side of her face and marks on her arms.

Police charged Parsons with simple assault and reckless endangerment.

6:30 a.m. Sunday — John J. Jackson, 39, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Brandi Berry, during a domestic dispute at their home in the 500 block of Virginia Avenue.

Police initially spoke to Berry at Butler Memorial Hospital where she had gone following the suspected assault. She had a swollen and bruised right eye and cheek.

She told authorities Jackson punched her in the eye and pushed her down, holding her to the floor, after they started arguing, according to court documents. He eventually fled the house.

Police arrested Jackson on Monday. He was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.
