Man allegedly grew marijuana in trailer

30-year-old was busted twice

CRANBERRY TWP — A 30-year-old man is facing numerous felony charges after getting busted twice allegedly for growing marijuana in the same trailer.

Aaron Butler, who has a Tarentum address although court records indicate he was living in a trailer on Route 19 in the township, Friday waived to court drug charges stemming from two incidents.

On May 21, 2015, state police responded to a complaint of a marijuana growing operation in Butler’s trailer, according to court records.

After receiving consent to search the trailer, police allegedly discovered 64 marijuana plants and 86 marijuana clones. The plants were confiscated and later confirmed as marijuana by the state police crime lab in Greensburg. He was arrested and released Nov. 3.

On Jan. 20, township police responded to the same trailer after receiving a complaint.

At the time, police discovered that there was a warrant out for his arrest for an earlier crime and arrested him.

Police also detected an odor of marijuana coming from the trailer. After obtaining a search warrant, police opened a chest-high wooden box inside the trailer that allegedly contained 35 marijuana plants, lights and other equipment.

He was arrested Friday and released on his own recognizance after his preliminary hearing.

He also is facing a criminal mischief charge from an alleged incident in Cranberry on Sept. 9 and a possession of a marijuana charge from an alleged incident in Franklin Park, Allegheny County, Nov. 2.
