Homeowner taken to hospital following Saturday night fire

CLINTON TWP — A man was taken to the hospital after he went back inside his home following a Saturday night fire.

The fire at 115 Hidden Hill Road started while owner Robert Wargo was entertaining guests, according to his friend Sandy Hall, 53, who was there.

The group had a fire going in the fire place when the flames became out of control seemingly out of nowhere, Hall said.

"We were all just sitting at the table...next thing you know, I smelled smoke," Hall said on the scene Saturday night.

Hall said she kept trying to put out the fire with buckets of water and can understand Wargo's concern for the home, which is only about five years old.

The call to 911 was made at about 9 p.m. and four fire departments battled the blaze.

The fire was out, but firefighters were still on scene when Wargo went back into the home.

"He was upset," said Chris Ballina, chief of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company.

Wargo built a significant part of his home, which about five years old..

Wargo suffered smoke inhalation, and was taken by ambulance to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Allegheny County. His condition was not immediately available.

Ballina estimated the damage to the home is more than $50,000.
