Forest Edge receives approval

CRANBERRY TWP — The township supervisors Thursday night approved a 59-house residential development.

Forest Edge is planned for 65 acres near the intersection of Hope Road and Woodlawn Road.

The developer, Singer Construction, plans to split the construction into two phases. Each phase will need to be proposed to the township for final approval before construction can begin, said Ron Henshaw, township planning and development services director.

The first phase is expected to start this year, while the time line for the second phase will depend on how quickly the lots are sold, Henshaw said.

The property had been used for farming.

The plans include extending Hope Road and making the intersection with Woodlawn Road into a four-way stop.

In response to concerns from residents, Henshaw said the township will look to improve Hope and Woodlawn roads, which will have more traffic with homes being built.

The developer is not obligated to pay for off-site infrastructure improvements, meaning it is the township’s responsibility.

“We know we have to do a project there to make improvements, and we’re going to do that sooner rather than later,” Henshaw said.
