Butler Police1:08 p.m. Tuesday — Three people were hurt in a two-vehicle collision at East Jefferson and South Monroe streets. The crash happened when a car driven by Mark T. Olesnevich, 70, of Jefferson Township turned in front of a pickup truck driven by Christopher S. Bingham, 28, of Butler.Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Olesnevich and his passenger, Patricia Olesnevich, 70, of Jefferson Township, who suffered unknown injuries, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.Police cited Olesnevich for making an improper left turn.10:34 a.m. Tuesday — Chad M. Spahn, 27, of West Sunbury was arrested after he allegedly shoplifted two pies, a cookie and an energy drink from the A-Plus/Sunoco on West Jefferson Street.Spahn left the store but was later caught. Police searched him and found a metal pill container with eight pills of the anti-anxiety medication clonazepam and two Suboxone strips in it, according to court documents. He did not have a prescription for either drug.A search of his back pack also turned up several syringes and other suspected drug contraband.Spahn, who has at least two prior arrests for shoplifting, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.Monday — Police charged a pizza delivery driver with allegedly inflating tips on the receipts of six customers between Jan. 7 and 9. The fraudulent tips amounted to $85.The suspect, Arthur A. Gillon III, 35, of Butler, is also accused of stealing $165 in currency and $28.50 in food from Pizza Joe’s on North Main Street.Gillon is charged with six felony counts of forgery and a misdemeanor count of theft.Monday — Jeffrey D. McMillen, 24, no known address, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police caught him with syringes and other contraband Jan. 26 at the Grapevine Center on North Elm Street.A tip that McMillen, who was wanted on a warrant, was at the center initially sent police there, court documents said. Officers arrested him on the warrant. He was searched and found with two syringes and a drug cooking spoon.He was placed in Butler County Prison on the warrant.Monday — Police filed a misdemeanor drug charge against Audrey M. McKivigan, 24, in connection with a Jan. 26 house check by probation officers that turned up suspected heroin contraband at her home on the 400 block of East Locust Street.The police officers later seized a metal cooking spoon with suspected heroin residue, a capped syringe and an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin, court documents said.McKivigan is charged with possession of drug paraphernaliaJan. 28 — Douglas B. Hosler, 50, of West Sunbury was charged with misdemeanor drug possession stemming from a Dec. 18 traffic stop on East Jefferson Street. Police said after they stopped Hosler just north of Butler Memorial Hospital, they smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the car.A search of the vehicle turned up suspected marijuana under the front passenger seat. He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.Jan. 27 — Caitland N. Ringler, 20, of Slippery Rock was charged with giving police a bogus name on Jan. 11 when they were called for a disturbance at an apartment on the 400 block of West North Street.Police said Ringler got into an altercation with the tenant at the apartment. During the investigation, police learned that the name the defendant gave officers was not hers, according to court documents.She is charged with false identification to law enforcement authorities.Jan. 25 — Adam J. Aiken, 31, of Butler was caught with a marijuana pipe in his pants pocket after police were called for a man drunk and disorderly at the Butler Public Library on North McKean Street.Police found the intoxicated Aiken at the library. They also found that he was wanted on a bench warrant, which landed him in the Butler County Prison.Later, police charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

State Police, Butler2:17 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Brandon D. Enslen, 21, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Dirk A. Holt, 38, both of Prospect, collided at Yellow Creek and Flinner roads in Muddy Creek Township. Police cited Enslen for a stop sign violation.Tuesday — Police charged Cassandra J. Young, 53, of Evans City with illegally trying to buy a gun Sept. 15 at Chicora Sporting Goods on North Main Street in Chicora.She is charged with unlawfully attempting to purchase a firearm, a felony. Additionally, she faces a misdemeanor charge of making a false statement to authorities.12:45 a.m. Jan. 22 — Joseph E. Kalinowski, 38, of Cabot lost control of his SUV and struck a utility pole along Clearfield Road just north of Winfield Road in Winfield Township. Police said Kalinowski was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.

State Police, KittanningJan. 27 — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Kenneth R. Bennett Jr., 32, of Ford City on charges he broke into a West Franklin Township house last year and stole a ring valued at $5,800.Bennett is accused of breaking into the 52-year-old man’s home Sept. 18 or 19, and taking the 18-carat yellow gold, seven-diamond ring as well as $300 in currency. The stolen property was inside a safe.Bennett is charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property, all felonies.

State Police, MercerJan. 24 — A thief made a fraudulent $402 purchase at the Marathon gas station in Pine Township, Mercer County. The unknown suspect pulled off the theft by calling up and claiming to work for the company that handles the store’s credit card transactions.The con worked and the thief was able to gain information to complete the unlawful transaction.
